Passenger killed in taxi crash (Chicago, IL)

Chicago, IL — A collision between a Flash Cab taxi and a Mustang ended tragically after it claimed the life of 33-year-old Hans Monroy last Thursday.

According to police, the taxi was heading southbound on Wacker Drive shortly after 9 p.m. However, it collided with a silver Ford Mustang while making a left turn onto Washington Street. Furthermore, investigators believe that the Mustang was speeding.

The impact of the crash killed Mr. Monroy. Medical records show that the passenger suffered internal injuries when he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Family members say Mr. Monroy just started a new job as a startup in the logistics industry. He was planning to leave for Miami today for a short vacation.

Moreover, the 37-year-old driver of the cab and a 32-year-old passenger allegedly both refused medical treatment at the scene. While the driver of the Mustang and a lady passenger, both 24, also refused treatment from first responders.

The Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit and Area Central detectives are investigating the collision.
