Chicago Taxi Drivers To Receive $200 A Year From City For Personal Protective Equipment

Chicago, IL – Chicago cab drivers are getting some help to buy masks and other safety equipment.

The city is giving every taxi driver $200 a year to buy personal protective gear, including masks, gloves, partitions and cleaning products.

Taxicab medallion owners will have to pay for the equipment themselves, and the city will reimburse them.

The money will come from the city’s accessibility fund, and the subsidies provided to taxi owners could total up to $800,000.
