A taxi driver arrested for killing his girlfriend (Coaltar, Ghana)

At Coaltar, in the Ayensuoano District of the Eastern Region, police have arrested Samuel Owureku, a 36 years old taxi driver, for allegedly killing Edaa Vio, his 19 years old girlfriend.

The deceased hails from Dzatsui New Town, near Nsawam-Adoagyiri.


According to Yaa Amedi, an eyewitness of Amaadikrom where the incident occurred, she and other neighbors heard unusual noise coming from Samuel Owureku’s room on Wednesday around midnight. She said that the following morning, the body of Edaa Vio was found in nearby bushes on the Kraboakese road.

Ms Amedi also said the neighbors suspected Owureku in the killing of Edaa Vio and reported the incident immediately to the police.

Amedi said when the Police arrested Owureku, it was clear that he had taken in some unknown substance thought to be poison, and he was rushed to the hospital.

When News Agencies contacted a source at the Coaltar Police Station, it was revealed Owureku was admitted to the hospital under a Police guard.

The source also said that Edaa Vio’s body has since been transferred to the Nsawam Government Hospital for autopsy.
